Trentino-South Tyrol

25.10.2024 – Santuario di Montecastello
The Montecastelli sanctuary is located on Lake Garda high in the mountains. This time I didn’t have to exert myself as I could drive almost as far as there. As the access road was not possible for the size of my Iveco Daily, I still had to walk 1.5 kilometres. But exercise keeps you fit.
25.10.2024 – Chiesa di Santa Barbara
22.10.024 – Cascata del Ponale
21.10.2024- Gardasee, Riva del Garda
18.10.2024 – Lago di Cavedine, Valle de Concei & Sarcatal
The Val di Concei is a side valley of the Ledro Valley a few kilometres north-east of Lake Garda. Lago Cavedine is located 15 kilometres north of Lake Garda and is used to generate electricity. The Fiume Sarco is the most important tributary of Lake Garda. It flows through the Brenta Mountains.
17.10.2024 – Parete Zerebrata
This area is interesting for climbers and hang-gliders, but hikers with drones can also enjoy a fantastic view.
16.10.2024 – Val Lomasona
I walked through the forest on the edge of Val Lomasona, which is interspersed with rocks and provides a special picture. During the hike, I came across this fire salamander, which I was able to capture on camera.
16.10.2024 – „Fiavé” – A hidden treasure of nature in the heart of Trentino
The Fiave nature reserve is home to one of the largest and most mysterious peat bogs in Trentino – a true paradise of nature. Carpets of green and gold spread across the wide, gently undulating meadows of moor grass, criss-crossing the landscape like living veins. This impressive ecosystem is a living mosaic that harbours an extraordinary variety of plants. These create a network of different habitats in which nature unfolds in all its beauty.
However, the Fiavé FFH area is not only a refuge for plants, but also plays a central role in international bird migration. From late summer to autumn, the area is transformed into a resting place for countless migratory birds as they gather new strength for their long journey to their wintering grounds. But the protected area is much more than that: it provides ideal breeding conditions for rare bird species native to the Alps, which are crucial to their survival. In this way, Fiavé contributes to the extraordinary biodiversity that makes this area an indispensable treasure of the region.
But fascinating life also unfolds beneath the surface of the water and in the dense green of the forest: rare amphibians and reptiles find the perfect place to breed here. The area is a hidden paradise that is not only a jewel for nature lovers, but for every life form that has found its place there. A true natural wonder in the heart of Trentino.
