The hike first ran above and parallel to the gorge and I didn’t yet know what to expect. The path was very slippery due to the damp clay and therefore difficult to walk on. Then the descent began and I found myself in the middle of a wilderness with fantastic scenery. A wild and romantic gorge. The hiking trail and riverbed often intermingled. The path is difficult to walk because of the scree, but the fantastic scenery makes it worthwhile.

N45° 29.646′ E10° 59.997′

A short hike through wilderness in the Val de Galina. After 1.5 km you reach the Falesia Val Galina on a narrow path. Provided you can find the path.

It all started quite harmlessly. However, I soon ended up on narrow paths through the middle of the jungle and missed the right path 2 or 3 times. Then I gave up and made my way back. This time I missed the right way back and was suddenly on the path I hadn’t found the whole time and finally arrived at the climbing rock that I didn’t even know existed. It had just been a destination with a funny name.

An imposing rock. From there you can look down into the valley. The rock offers various routes for climbers.

Here I took a short walk along the banks of the Adige, which turned out to be a turning point in my future work. I was just outside Verona, so I decided to pay it a visit. This decision extended to all the major Venetian cities and eventually developed into a plan to include the highlights of all the provinces and regions I visited. However, it took a while before this decision was made.
